Since the beginning, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Vance “Mad Dog” Tenort has been a key member of the LA Boppers. Always known (and called on) for their superb musicianship, the band released a number of classic albums in the late 70s and 80s, such as “The Boppers”, “LA Boppers”, “Bop Time” and “Make Mine Bop”. If anything, the band’s esteem has grown over the years as people re-discover the stylish jazz horns and swing of “Is This the Best (Bop-Doo-Wah)” and “You Did it Good”. Since the group disbanded, Tenort has been an in-demand percussionist, composer and singer. He has worked with Chico Hamilton, the Beastie Boys, Marvin Gaye, Billy Cobham, Archie Bell and The Drells, Joe Tex, Miki Howard, George Benson, Wayne Henderson (of the Jazz Crusaders), and many more .

Vance’s connection with Ben Schwag dates back over 20 years, as they have worked on a number of music projects. They are currently busy restoring the old soul masters (such as George Williams), as well as working on his own catalogue and new material with the reggae legend Cedric Myton (more about that later).
